Keystones Worcester Bar Reopens

Keystones Worcester Bar Reopens

Keystones Worcester Cocktail Bar is one of the businesses that reopened on July 4th in keeping with the easing of Lockdown restrictions.  With a wide range of social distancing measure in place, the bar did a steady and upbeat trade and would like to thank its supporter for following guidelines and making the reopening event a fantastic success.

As part of the reopening initiative, Keystones have launched their new NHS online booking and visitor tracking system.  This means that people who are visiting the bar can enter all their details in advance and provide their information should they need to be contacted in the future.  For people wanting to use this facility you can visit keystones website here: (https://www.keystonescocktailclub.com/keystones-reservations/).

Some of the safety measures put in place included all staff wearing superhero face masks and gloves to make sure the customer contact was kept to a minimum.  Tables and general surfaces were regularly wiped down with sanitiser.  Wherever possible, social distancing of at least one metre was maintained and guests were allocated specific time slots and table service only.

Over the weekend the bar attracted a really great crowd of visitors who had a fantastic time- even with restrictions in place.  As JP, the owner of Keystones Worcester said: “Most people were really well behaved and went out of their way to make this this work and follow the rules. A few people did need reminding as the evening went on but were all good natured about it. I’d like to say a huge thanks to all our Patrons who joined us over the weekend.”

Thirsty visitors seemed thrilled to have their favourite waterhole open again.  As one guest put it: “The worst thing about lockdown was feeling so isolated.  Even if you can’t hug and kiss people anymore you can still see your mates across the room and give them a wave – or if you’re feeling generous buy them a cocktail.”

The easing of restrictions on Saturday included bars, restaurants, hairdressers, outdoor gyms and playgrounds, hotels, cinemas, museums, art galleries, arcades, libraries, and community centres.

JP added that the club team had spent nearly two weeks making sure that they were ready to reopen and had seriously reviewed and implemented practical social distancing measures. “It was just fantastic to see our Worcester Bar reopening.”

Already nicknamed “Independence Day”, July 4th 2020 was a huge success for keystones Cocktail Bar in Worcester and the management it committed to learning from the weekend festivities and will be constantly looking for ways to improve the their arrangements for the safety and enjoyment of their visitors.

Secrets of a Great Safe Night Out

Secrets of a Great Safe Night Out

Going out clubbing at night can result in great moments and fun memories for now and for your later years. Your kids will never believe mum and dad were so cool. You can ensure that you benefit from both if you know and apply the secrets of a great safe night out.

Successful clubbing is based on the hard lessons learned by legions of partygoers before you. If you fail to apply them correctly, you may regret your misadventures not only the next morning but for several years to come.

Plan Your Return

That’s right! Before you even plan your party attire, you should make sure that your arrival back home will be as smooth as possible. Here are some tips on that:

  • Spruce up your place a bit if you feel that you might not be returning alone.
  • Place a large glass with water on the nightstand. Drink it before you go to bed to have an if you want a much more manageable hangover the next morning. Most party headaches are caused by dehydration.
  • Order one large pizza and eat half of it before you go out. The complex carbs will boost your energy and prevent you from getting drunk too early in the night.
  • Keep the rest of the pizza for late-night binging! We both know that “tipsy you” has an insatiable craving for salty, greasy food. Leftover pizza is cheaper and slightly healthier than an oily kebab.
  • Save some cash for a taxi ride home. The way to a party is short and exciting. The way back is always blurry and lasts an eternity. You don’t want to make it feel even worse by walking, biking or having to rely on others to get you back to your bed – unless that’s your plan from the start.

Prepare for the Party

Now that your return plan is all set up, you can go on to a more exciting part of a night out: getting ready. Here’s what you should do:

  • Begin grooming and applying makeup long before leaving. You do not want to leave everything for the last minute and risk cutting while shaving or plucking too many hairs from your eyebrows.
  • The same goes for your attire. Choose your partying clothes long in advance. Make sure that they are clean, ironed and that your shoes don’t have any evidence from the last time you beat the drum.
  • Travel light! You do not need to carry half of your wardrobe to the club. Dress according to the weather forecast. Carry only essential belongings like your keys, your phone, and your wallet/purse.
  • Summer tip: always have a pair of shades with you. In the summertime, parties tend to end after the sun is already up and shining. You might need some protection for your energy-drained, red eyes.

Partying Tips

Plenty of people prepare for the weekend nights all week long. They eagerly plan every single detail, and when the big night finally arrives, all they want to do is go back home. One of the secrets of having a successful night out is to start off with no expectations. The lower your anticipation will be the more fun you’ll have. Other secrets include:

  • Assemble a crew of fun people. Leave out those friends that are clingy, needy, cranky, and always eager to go to 23 different clubs on the same night.
  • Don’t mix drinks! If you start your night with a beer, continue down that path. Adding rum, whiskey, and gin may seem like you’re having fun, but you are only booking a 3-day hangover holiday.
  • Stay out of conflicts! If a fight breaks out, just swallow your pride and walk away. If you don’t, you will only regret it later, and you may do so from either a hospital bed or from jail.
  • Know your limits! This one goes for both dancing and drinking. Avoid taking the spotlight on the dance floor, even if you are a professional choreographer. Nobody likes a show-off. Also, if you have a bit of partying experience, you should know what having one drink too many does to you.
  • Stop before you become an exhausted topsy-turvy crazy person. Grab your lover or your best friend by the shoulder and head on home. The best parties are those that you don’t regret the next morning.

There’s loads more tips to a great night out, but these are the ones most likely to keep the fun going and keep you safe at the same time.  Cheers and see you soon.

The Five Most Famous Cocktails and How They’re Made

Beer and wine are common at most types of social gatherings, but it takes a good mixed drink to get the party started. If you are looking for a fool proof, mood-boosting adult beverage to impress your guests, this guide to the five most famous cocktails and how they’re made should come in handy!

  1. Daiquiri

We start our countdown with Ernest Hemingway’s favourite mixed drink. Everyone knows the great author’s love for fine drinking, which gives the Daiquiri an even better reputation.

Classic Daiquiri Ingredients

  • 2 oz. white rum
  • 1/2 tsp. superfine sugar
  • 1/2 oz. lime juice
  • 1 spoon of cracked ice

How to make the Daiquiri

The recipe for the Daiquiri is easy to master from your first try. You start by squeezing a lime wedge into your shaker. Sprinkle in the sugar and add the rum. Drop the ice inside before giving it a good shake. Strain in a chilled cocktail glass and serve.

The Hemingway Special is a sugar-free Daiquiri. You can add various fruits like bananas and avocados to get even sweeter versions of the classic drink. Mixing pulverized ice will get you a Frozen Daiquiri, which may have a slushie texture, but it still packs a powerful punch.

  1. Dry Martini

We continue our list of the most famous cocktails with another mixed drink that popular culture elevated to worldwide notoriety. The Dry Martini is James Bond’s favourite drink as long as it is stirred, not shaken.

Classic Dry Martini Ingredients

  • 4 oz. gin or vodka
  • 1 oz. dry vermouth
  • 2 spoons of cracked ice

How to make a Dry Martini

Fill your shaker with ice and pour in the vermouth. Add the gin (or vodka) and stir gently. Strain it into a cocktail glass and add a green olive or a twist of lemon peel for garnish. If you add onion instead of olives, the drink becomes a Gibson. Pouring a few drops of olive juice will present you with an unorthodox, but rich-tasting Dirty Martini.

  1. Margarita

Nothing beats a chilled Margarita on a scorching summer day. This drink is perfect for those who love tequila but don’t want to drink shots in the middle of the afternoon.

Classic Margarita Ingredients

  • 2 oz. silver tequila
  • 1 oz. Cointreau
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • Coarse salt for the rim
  • All the cracked ice you can find

How to make a Margarita

Lay a small bed of coarse salt on the bar. Take a chilled glass, rub its rim with lime juice and then dip it in the salt. Set it aside.

Pour the tequila, the Cointreau and the lime juice in a shaker. Add the ice and shake well before straining it into the glass. Garnish it with a lime wedge and serve.

Girls at Keystones

  1. Old Fashioned

We couldn’t have continued our list of the most famous cocktails without mentioning the most popular mixed drink that contains whiskey (or bourbon). The Old Fashioned is one of the oldest cocktail recipes, and one of the few that are great for any occasion.

Classic Old Fashioned Ingredients

  • 2 oz. bourbon or rye whiskey
  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 sugar cube (or 1/2 tsp. loose sugar)
  • Club soda

How to make the Old Fashioned

Place the sugar cube in a tumbler glass. Sprinkle the Angostura drops over it and add a splash of club soda. Crush and mix everything with a wood muddler. Add one or two ice cubes and pour the whiskey over them. Garnish with orange peel and serve.

  1. Gin and Tonic

This drink is ideal for starting a celebration or rekindling a dying party. The Gin & Tonic has a personality that it perfect for all occasions from a lawn party to an evening at your favourite restaurant.  It is fizzy, bubbly and some even say – energy boosting. It’s so ridiculously easy to prepare and popular now that most people have forgotten that it actually started out as a colonial health cocktail in India.

Classic Gin and Tonic Ingredients

  • 2 oz. gin
  • 4 oz. tonic water
  • All the ice cubes that you can find

How to make a Gin and Tonic

Fill a highball glass with ice. Add the gin and pour in the tonic water slowly while letting it hit the stirring rod first. This way, the bubbles of carbonated water will not break in your glass, but in your mouth when you sip the drink. Garnish with lime wedges, mint leaves, peppercorns, cucumber slices or juniper berries for a rich, herbal flavour.  The emergence of new craft gins means that the Gin and Tonic is becoming more elaborate again and more like a modern cocktail as we know it.
